Undergraduate Program Console

The Undergraduate Program console at /undergraduate-program is the working area for undergraduate committee members (chair and vice chair) and program coordinators. It brings the program's review queues, student data, and degree configuration into one tabbed page.

Access is permission-based: if you do not have undergraduate committee access, the page redirects you to your dashboard.

Dashboard

The landing tab gives a program overview:

  • Majors & minors counts and enrollment by term and course fill rate charts
  • Independent study and thesis summary widgets
  • Pending approvals widgets - counts of award nominations and plan approvals awaiting review, with buttons that jump straight to the matching tab
  • Nominations summary and quick links

Use the dashboard to see at a glance what is waiting on the committee, then click through to the relevant tab.

Degree Management

Configure the degree programs and their rules:

  • Manage degree/program definitions
  • Edit requirement groups and rules used for student progress checking

Changes here drive the requirement checking students see in their degree planning and progress tracking.

Students

A searchable, filterable list of all undergraduate students:

  • Search by name, email, or NetID
  • Filter by declared major
  • Click a student to open their profile, where you can view their plans, requests, and submit forms on their behalf when needed

Thesis Requests

The honors thesis review queue. The tab shows summary stats (total, pending, approved, drafts, rejected, revisions), status filters, and a detail view for each request:

  • Review the request - student, advisor, academic year, title, and the full approval history (who has approved so far and when)
  • Approve - committee members can approve at any pending stage
  • Reject - requires comments explaining the decision
  • Request revision - returns the request to the student with your comments
  • For approved theses, the detail view shows the workflow progress through the thesis stages
  • Milestone calendar editor - set the thesis milestone deadlines for the academic year

Independent Research

The review queue for PSYC 70/88/90 permission requests, with the same layout as thesis requests:

  • Stats, status filters, and a detail modal with the request's course, terms, advisor, research details, and approval history
  • A request is reviewed by the advisor first, then the department; from this tab a committee member can approve at any pending stage, reject (comments required), or request revision (comments returned to the student)
  • Approval triggers the Banner enrollment permission step
  • For approved requests, the detail view shows progress through the midterm check-in and final report stages

Awards

Manage award and fellowship definitions (undergraduate category):

  • View, create, edit, and archive definitions - names, descriptions, stipend ranges, eligibility, and requirements
  • Definitions created here feed the fellowship and award type lists shown to applicants and nominators

Nominations

The combined review queue for award nominations and fellowship applications (undergraduate category). For each item the detail view shows the nomination/application content and the full approval history. Committee actions:

ActionEffect
ApproveMarks the item approved; for fellowships you can record the award amount
RejectMarks it not selected/not approved - comments are required
Request revisionReturns it to the nominator/applicant with your comments for editing and resubmission

Items under review carry the status Submitted; per-reviewer progress (e.g., advisor endorsed, awaiting committee) is shown via the approval records in the detail view.

Plan Approvals

The queue of student-submitted academic plans (major plans) awaiting committee review. Major plans have a single review stage owned by the undergraduate committee:

  1. Open a pending plan to review the student's planned courses against the degree requirements
  2. Add review comments
  3. Approve, Reject, or Request Revision - revision requests send the plan back to the student with your comments

Workflows

Administrative view of the unified workflow system: the workflow definitions (honors thesis, independent research, etc.), their stages, and running instances. Use this tab to inspect where a particular student's workflow stands or to troubleshoot a stuck instance.

Notes for Reviewers

  • All review actions are queue-based: each tab loads the items waiting on you, and approve/reject/request-revision act on the selected item.
  • Comments matter - rejection and revision requests require comments, and your comments are shown verbatim to the student or nominator.
  • Statuses - items under review show Submitted until a final decision; Revisions Requested items return to the submitter; Approved / Not Approved are final (students can start a new request afterward).
